In the light of Charlie Kirk's murder we need to remember the words of Jesus: "If the world hates you, you, know that it hated Me before it hated you." (John 15:18). He knew the world hated Him
and yet was still willing to lay down His life for us, praying "Father, forgive them. They do not know what they do."
That is the love that enables those who believe in Him to proclaim the gospel with boldness in the face of hardship, opposition, threats, pain and persecution of every kind.
That is the love that motivated Charlie Kirk. Was He perfect? No. But he stood for Christ in a world that is hostile to Christ.
Lord, fill us with that same love that walks above hatred, is not bowed by threats, that will bring light into any darkness and stand for truth in an increasingly deceived world.
May we follow in the footsteps of our Saviour in every way, at all times, regardless of the circumstances in which we find ourselves, bringing glory to His name and His name alone.
